The Mexico Grand Prix had its viewers on the edge of their seats, delivering standout moments in every lap that kept the race interesting from start to finish.

Lights out and away we go with the Mexico Grand Prix of 2025! Polesitter Lando Norris got off to a strong start, immediately pulling away in pursuit of victory. Behind him, however, chaos erupted in Turn 1. Max Verstappen didn’t hesitate for a second and immediately started attacking the two Ferraris, taking the outside line and creating a gorgeous racing moment with four cars running side by side.

Verstappen then cut the corner and rejoined the track through the grass. George Russell had his own thoughts about the incident and was clearly frustrated on the radio about the actions of the reigning world champion, who remained ahead. Charles Leclerc also cut the corner and briefly emerged ahead of Norris before correctly giving the position back.

And what about Oscar Piastri? The Australian McLaren driver had a tough start, slipping from seventh to ninth after being overtaken by Tsunoda and Oliver Bearman. Bearman turned out to be the big winner from the Turn 1 chaos, climbing from a ninth place on the grid to an impressive fourth place in the opening stages of the race.

Up front, a fierce battle for the final podium spot unfolded between Verstappen and Hamilton. The two world champions made contact. Shortly after this incident the seven time world champion Lewis Hamilton made an evasive move onto the grass earning him a 10-second time penalty.

After 11 intense laps, it was clear that Norris was in complete control of this race. The McLaren driver managed to extend his lead throughout the race and eventually finished the race with a commanding 30.324s margin. He summed up his race in his own words by stating:  ‘A pretty straightforward race for me which is just what I was after. Good start, good launch, good first lap and I could go from there."

His teammate Oscar Piastri focused on damage control and was determined to minimize the championship points gap to Norris. He fought his way past Tsunoda and Hamilton before benefiting from a rapid McLaren pit stop that allowed him to exit the pits ahead of Antonelli. Even Russell’s Mercedes couldn’t hold off the fast McLaren.

In the final laps of the race tension rose again: Verstappen was determined to take second place at all costs and started attacking Leclerc by closing the gap to just 0.289s. A Virtual Safety car sabotaged his attempt, allowing Leclerc to secure his second place. Piastri also chased down Bearman for fourth place but ultimately had to settle for fifth.

Every race knows its unlucky drivers: Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso, Nico Hulkenberg and Liam Lawson all failed to finish the Mexico Grand Prix. Lando Norris however, could not have asked for more. With his dominant victory he reclaimed the lead in the Driver’s Championship, now sitting just one point ahead of Oscar Piastri. With four race weekends remaining, the 2025 Formula 1 season is shaping up to deliver an explosive finale.
