After a sensational season with Barcelona and a sparkling European summer with the Spanish Women’s team, Vicky Lopez has won the Ballon D’or Kopa Trophy, naming her the best women’s player under the age of 21. She made 48 appearances for Barcelona this season, where she garnered 15 goals and gathered 3 assists which no doubt led to her helping Barcelona FC to win Liga F, the Spanish Cup and the Super Cup.
She also saw great success in this summer’s Euros, where she helped Spain advance all the way through the competition through to the final where they were only narrowly beaten by England’s Lionesses on penalties after a hard fought battle over the whole match. Over the course of the tournament, her attacking skill shone through as she gained one assist and one goal which furthered Spain’s advancement in the tournament.
She is most definitely a deserving winner of this award and will no doubt continue to succeed for club and country over this new season.
