Hannah Hampton has won the 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy as a result of her success with both Chelsea F.C and England.
She started every WSL game in the 2024/25 season, in a team that became the first WSL team to finish a 22-game season unbeaten, whilst also setting a record points tally of 60 points. She kept an outstanding 13 clean sheets throughout the WSL campaign.
On the international stage, Hampton played a crucial role in England’s Euro 2025 success, saving several penalties in crucial moments in the knockout stages – including 2 saves in the penalty shootout against Spain in the final. She even picked up the Player of the Match award for her contributions in the final game.
In her acceptance speech, Hampton took the opportunity to pay tribute to Matt Beard, who recently passed away at the age of 47. She said: “The women’s game sadly on Saturday lost a real trailblazer, Matt Beard”.
She continued, “He lit up the room when everyone was in it. This is just a message to show that not everyone should have to go through these dark moments alone.”
This was a speech that has touched many hearts across the footballing community – a moment of class from the Chelsea goalkeeper.
