Lamine Yamal has retained the Kopa Trophy for the first time in the award’s history, after winning it in both 2024 and now 2025. The teenage sensation has taken the footballing world by storm, becoming a standout player for both Barcelona and the Spanish national team.

After his success at the European Championships helped him secure the award last year, his club success with Barcelona have continued to impress, especially last season. The forward achieved the domestic treble (La Liga, Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup) with the Catalan side, in a campaign that saw him record a grand total of 39 goal contributions (G+A) in all competitions.

Lamine notably said in his acceptance speech, “I want to thank FC Barcelona, the national team; without them, I wouldn’t be here,” and concluded with a mention of his hopes to achieve even more in the future.

This could just be the start of his night at the ceremony, with him also being in the conversation for the Ballon d’Or trophy.
