What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas: The history of the Las Vegas Grand Prix

The final three races of this 2025 season kick off in Las Vegas. With the championship battle tighter than ever, Sin City is preparing for an exciting race under the neon lights.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix has only been on the F1 calendar since 2023, yet it has already become an iconic event. With its 6.201 km length through the vibrant streets of Las Vegas, with its gorgeous casinos, hotels and the legendary Strip: the circuit delivers a spectacle unlike any other.

The history of this Grand Prix dates back to the 1980s, when in 1981 drivers first completed the race, then called the Caesars Palace Grand Prix, held in the parking lot of the iconic Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The event returned once more in 1982 before disappearing from the F1 calendar, only to come back in 2023.

The circuit of the Las Vegas Grand Prix now has 17 exhilarating corners and draws massive crowds of fans, celebrities and artists. Its 1.9 km straight allows drivers to push beyond 340 km/h in the city that never sleeps.

The key question heading into this race is clear: Can Lando Norris extend his 24-point lead over teammate Oscar Piastri? And as we’ve learned time and again this season, never rule out reigning world champion Max Verstappen. To keep his title hopes alive, Verstappen must outscore Lando Norris by at least nine points.

Everything is still to play for in the final three races of the 2025 season with 83 points left to be won. So set your alarms for Sunday, 23 November at 4 a.m. London time for the Las Vegas Grand Prix: It’s all to race for.
