Karen Carney blows us all away at Blackpool!

With the Strictly Ballroom returning to Blackpool this weekend, Karen Carney blew us all away with a striking pasodoble!

This week, Karen was playing the part of a fortune teller in her and Carlos’ ninth dance together. Karen said in the introduction that “the paso is so dramatic” (which you could definitely see that she tried to emulate in the way that she danced at the weekend). Carlos commented that “the way of walking in this dance is very unique” and Karen said that “it’s a challenge but I’m honoured to go Blackpool and to dance with Carlos”. 

After their incredible dance, Craig said that the dance was “insane”, but that he “would have liked a little bit more [...] softened lines” in the dance, but that overall he thinks that Karen is “absolutely incredible”. Motsi stated simply that “[she does] not have a paddle that in any way can express how good that dance was”. Shirley stated that she has “never seen a pasodoble like that. [Karen] never wobbled once. That is epic. It will go down in history.” Finally, Anton commented that the dance was “an absolute tour de force” and that he’d like to “give [Karen] 25 for that”. 

When talking with Claudia, Karen said that she’d “love to do it again”. For the judges' scores, Craig awarded the pair a nine, and the rest of the judges gave them a ten, leaving them with a total of 39 points (meaning that they were in joint second place on the leaderboard). 

It was announced at the beginning of Saturday night’s show that due to La Voix’s Injury no one would be leaving the competition this weekend, so luckily all six celebrities have made it through to the next week of the competition.
