Despite a strong start by the hosts, Crystal Palace fell to a 3-0 defeat to 2nd place Manchester City in Sunday afternoon’s fixture.
The Eagles had some clear-cut chances that they should have put away, but City took advantage of them missed chances and took the lead in the 41st minute thanks to goal machine Erling Haaland.
Haaland took his Premier League goalscoring tally to 17 goals in the 2025/26 season, the most out of every player in the league. He has adapted to English football with ease since his move from Borussia Dortmund in 2022. Crystal Palace will be tired of seeing the Norwegian with his outstanding goal record against the Eagles – he has now scored eight goals in 5 appearances in the Premier League against them.
Along with Haaland’s goals, Phil Foden calmly finished into the bottom right corner around the halfway point of the 2nd half. His goal dampened Palace’s spirits significantly, but they showed fight to try and get a goal back. However, the foul from Dean Henderson on Savinho ultimately gave Haaland and Manchester City the chance to sail to victory at Selhurst Park.
Palace remain in the top 6 on goal difference, and travel to Elland Road to take on Leeds next Saturday in the Premier League but first have a midweek battle in the UEFA Conference League against KuPS.
Up next, Manchester City take on Brentford in the Carabao Cup and return to league action on Saturday against West Ham. Will this be a chance to get closer to top of the table Arsenal?
