Anouk Denton has received her first call up to the senior Lionesses squad ahead of tomorrow’s friendly against Australia at Pride Park, Derby.

Sarina Wiegman confirmed the U23, and West Ham defender’s call up in this morning’s press conference. She has not been called up as a replacement for anyone but instead is there as an extra choice due to a few knocks and minutes management.

Denton has been a regular face in Emma Coates’ England U23s side since September 2023 and was named in the squad for the U23 European fixtures against Germany and Portugal.

Since the squad announcement on the 14th October, the Lionesses have suffered with injury and illnesses with four players departing camp; Katie Reid, Grace Clinton, Jess Park and Lotte Wubben-Moy. Hannah Hampton remained in camp but was unavailable for Saturday’s match against Brazil due to injury as well. Alongside Denton, Jess Naz, Grace Fisk and Sophie Baggaley have also joined up with the squad.

Wiegman claimed the knocks to be small and has not confirmed anyone else to be leaving camp ahead of the second game of the homecoming series.

England vs Australia kicks off at 7pm UK time and you can watch it on ITV4, with coverage starting from 6:15pm.
