New manager, Gareth Taylor, has chose Grace Fisk to lead the club out, ahead of their opening game at Anfield this weekend, where they will play Everton in the WSL.
The defender will take the captains armband for the 25/26 season, following Niamh Fahey’s retirement at the end of last season.
“It is such a huge honour for me to be appointed as club captain here at Liverpool. It was an amazing feeling when I was asked to take the armband,” Fisk says.
Fisk joined Liverpool from West Ham to once again play under Matt Beard’s management. This will be her third season with the club, having recently signed a contract extension in April. So far, she has racked up 51 appearances with two goals, and in her first season with the Reds, she was named Players’ Player of the Year.
Fisk has previously represented England at U17, U19, U20 and U21 youth levels, and gained valuable captain experience when she captained the England Squad who went on to win bronze at the 2018 U20 World Cup in France.
Gareth Taylor said: “I’ve been impressed with a number of the players but Grace was so high on that list because she embodies high levels of professionalism, she’s empathetic with the rest of the group and she drives standards and I think that’s what you look for in a captain.”
