
Arsenal have obtained the signing of the 27-year-old attacking midfielder on a long-term deal. He joins the Gunners following a strong season in the Premier League with Crystal Palace, where he scored eight goals and provided eight assists throughout the campaign.
The deal came after Arsenal hijacked North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur’s deal with the England international on Wednesday. Things moved swiftly after the Gunner’s expressed interest in response to Kai Havertz’s injury. The deal was then announced shortly after, with the reported fee being around £60 million, plus £7.5 million in add ons.
Ironically, the attacking midfielder was released by Arsenal’s academy when he was just 13 years old, making this move a full-circle moment.
Eze made a name for himself in professional football at Queen’s Park Rangers, where he was named their Player of the Year in the 2019/20 season, resulting in Crystal Palace snapping up the youngster at the time. He was a standout player during his 5 seasons at Palace, and linked up well with their other attacking threats, particularly in the last couple of seasons.
He will take the No.10 shirt for the Gunners and is expected to be a part of their squad for their upcoming match against Liverpool on Sunday, 31 August. Eze become’s Arsenal’s seventh signing of the summer window - one that shows real promise, and one Arsenal fan’s hope will help the club take the final step towards the Premier League title.
