Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey (32) has been sued for five alleged incidents of rape and one of sexual assault. After his contract ended on the 30th of June, Partey is currently without a club and will appear in court on August 5th.

In February 2022 Scotland Yard opened an investigation into Arsenal’s midfielder Thomas Partey, concerning alleged incidents of rape which would have taken place in 2021 and 2022.
It has been reported that the midfielder played over 50 games for the Gunners while the investigation was ongoing. However, on the 30th of June his contract with Arsenal expired with the club’s decision to not extend their partnership.
Only four days later, official charges were filed, accusing Partey of five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. The detective leading this three year investigation stated that ‘their priority remains providing support to the woman who have come forward”.
A statement Partey’s lawyer reads that they welcome the opportunity to finally clear his name on August 5th, when Partey will appear in front of the Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

Meanwhile, The Gunners pre-season must continue with their tour in Asia where they play against AC Milan, Newcastle and Tottenham. When asked how the club handled this situation surrounding Partey, manager Arteta answered with a “100% yes” that the club followed the right process when dealing with the matter.
Earlier in 2024, Partey as a victim was involved in a separate legal incident, where an arsenal fan received a three-year ban from all games for racial abuse towards the ex-Gunners midfielder.
