Magdalena (also known as Magda) Eriksson announced her retirement from international football through instagram, in the video she states ‘im listening to my body and my mind, instead of my heart’ This is a decision that took her a while and she will ‘be the national team's biggest fan’ from now on. She has achieved a lot with the Swedish national team

In the 2023 world cup Sweden won the bronze medal match and went to Gothenburg to celebrate their achievement, 30,000 people turned up to go and celebrate the achievement with the team. Magda has been a part of the growth of the women's game from beginning her career with her local team Enskede Ik before joining Hammarby If (which was encouraged by her dad) to
captaining Chelsea, representing her national team and now playing at Bayern Munich. Magda broke through into Hammarby's first team in 2011 at just aged 17 and she made her international debut in 2014. She represented Sweden at all the youth groups and she won the U19 Euros in 2012.

Eriksson will now continue to focus on winning trophies with Bayern Munich adding onto her lists of honours. She’s an inspiration to many people, not only in football but also with the work she does of the pitch, she will continue to thrive with Bayern Munich whilst everyone remembers who much of an asset she was for Sweden.
