TRANSFER NEWS: Bristol to London: Ffion Morgan signs for West Ham

West Ham United have signed Welsh international Ffion Morgan on a two year deal following the expiry of her contract with Bristol City.

Morgan says her decision to join the club was ‘easy’ after ongoing conversations with the club. “I’m a versatile player and can adapt to different positions. I have a lot of energy, I’m quick and can create chances for myself and my team. I like to be given the license and confidence to express myself, and hopefully I can show that in the famous claret and blue.”

The attacker spent four seasons with the Robins, scoring 15 goals in 89 appearances and was named Supporters’ Player of the Year in her final season.

Morgan’s footballing journey started at the age of four playing for her local boys team before eventually signing with the Bristol City Academy at 15 years old. In 2018, Morgan moved to Cardiff City where she earned her first call up to Wales to represent the U-17 squad. Unfortunately, Morgan missed the 2017-18 season due to an ACL injury she picked up while on international duty with the U-19’s.

She then went on to complete two full seasons on loan, the first to Coventry United and the next at Crystal Palace. After the two successful loans, she made the permanent move to Bristol City, where she helped the team in promotion to the WSL in 2023.

On the international stage, Morgan made her senior debut in 2017 in the FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying matches against fellow United Kingdom nation, Northern Ireland.  She has since represented her country a total of 43 times and was most recently named in the squad for the UEFA Women’s European Championships 2025, a tournament which she scored a crucial goal in the play offs against Slovakia for.

West Ham manager, Rehanne Skinner, has worked with Morgan before in the Wales youth groups and is pleased to be reunited with her saying: “She is an exciting talent with a hard-working attitude and willingness to defend from the front. She is tenacious and has the ability to create and score goals, which showed in abundance at her previous club.”
