Scottish defender, Kirsty Smith, has joined Nottingham Forest on a two year deal from West Ham United.
Smith’s senior career started off strong in Scotland with Hibernian. During her seven years with the club, she was part of the squad who consecutively won the domestic cup double in 2016 and 2017 and also finished as runners-up four other times.
In 2018, it was announced Smith would be making the move to Manchester United for their first season in the Women’s Championship. In that first season, Smith made 16 league appearances and the club secured promotion to the Women’s Super League. She stayed at the club for two more seasons, making 40 total appearances before moving to fellow Women’s Super League club, West Ham United. She made over 50 appearances for the club in the three years she was there.
Smith has represented her country on the international stage at the under-17 and under-19 levels, and made her senior debut in 2014, now having more than 60 caps. She was named part of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad, for the nation’s first ever appearance.
